No announcement on Unlimited, but a reason that a lot of your cards are "banned" is that they haven't been fully implemented yet. The full Expanded format will be available in the future.

@JosieKristin Currently, only SM-on is playable. They still need to implement XY and BW cards, which will happen in the future.

I'm gonna guess that the black loading screen is there now because a memory leak was found and now memory is freed up when transitioning to and from battles.

@Bludrigg There's no cutoff. When PTCGO is shut down, all accounts will be automatically migrated.

I learned recently that the reason the original announcement had the game support Lost Thunder as the oldest set was that development started around the release of that set. Believe it or not, people sometimes get new information later. Crazy, I know.

@noriLOXic Nostalgia. Gen 3 had Pokémon-ex, and the Pokémon ex of Gen 9 reference that. Note though that those aren't the same mechanic either.
