It's a problem with the implementation. These devs are hacks, so they often take shortcuts that have pretty much the effect they're aiming for without considering card interactions. The shortcut this time results in Fusion Strike Energy blocking the effect. Parasol likely does the same, and Wash Water Energy.

Did you evolve before switching back into the active? If you evolved after, it doesn't count.
