The downside is supposed to just be that they give up extra prizes. The game is designed around them though and meta decks are intended to be based around them with some regular Pokemon as support.

Cards from before Sun and Moon aren't working yet. They will in the future. Also, Standard rotation happened recently, so if you were playing Standard before that's why your decks have illegal cards.

You can't do that in tournaments. You're not allowed to play search cards with an empty deck.

Eh... Not really in this particular case since the only people who will do this are either curious or just don't know the rules.

Buy packs. Leave 125 packs for migration and open the rest. You'll get 12400 crystals if you have 125 unopened packs when you migrate.

Your packs are gone. You got crystals for 125 of them, and the rest just no longer exist. Also, it's not the fault of the devs that you didn't try to find out how the migration works before doing it.
