  • Did they have Klefki in the active spot? That would disable the abilities of all basic Pokémon on both sides, and between that and Path to the Peak all that would be left is abilities from non-rulebox evolution Pokémon like Kirlia.
  • Effects that block Boss are rare, but they do exist - the ability of Diancie (ASR) and the tool card Leafy Camo Poncho are a couple of examples. It sounds like you could have run into one of these without realizing it.
  • Choice Belt only applies against Pokémon-V in the first place, so if the target is anything besides that, it won't work.   • I don't think it has anything to do with specific cards - there's a sweeping problem with the entire darkness type that causes animations to run so slowly that your turn clock can start running and time out while you have no control whatsoever over the game.
  • It's currently allowing any Pokémon V (not just basics as intended) to take an extra prize when knocking out a VStar or VMAX.
  • Not to downplay the rest of these issues by proxy, but Sky Seal Stone doesn't give bonus prizes for knocking out a basic Pokémon V - only a VMAX or VStar.
