You know that you can skip the animation, right? Most likely they're already opened. There's no pack inventory in Live, so packs are opened as soon as you get them and it's impossible to save it for later.

Oricorio's attack doesn't deal damage; it places damage counters, which is considered an attack effect and is not blocked by Water Veil. This is working as intended.

What happened here is clear. It's not a mixing of Standard and Expanded, since there's no ranked Expanded ladder. What's going on here is that someone accidentally enabled XY cards for play but didn't set them as Expanded-only.

No. Read the card. Powerful Colorless Energy only boosts damage when attached to a Colorless Pokemon. They weren't active because they're not meant to be active. This is not a bug. I can't believe how often this comes up.
