It's not due to a rage quit. It's the result of a glitch causing a desync which silently disconnected you from the server. If you just close the app, you lose the match.

If you can't progress due to not being able to maintain over a 50% win rate, it means that you're where you should be. This is ranked. If you lose more than you win then you're not ready to move up.

Trading would likely break a ton of stuff while not fixing the economy problem. Meanwhile, the economy itself could be easily fixed with better design decisions and almost no changes to underlying code. In before "but it's the Pokemon TRADING Card Game" from someone...
