The game is currently in maintenance mode. There was in-game messaging about this in the morning, but as soon as it's back online it should redirect you to exactly where you need to go.

Definitely reach out to our Support Team and let them know about the issue you ran into when redeeming those code cards. For not being able to battle, is it just not finding anyone when matchmaking or are you getting some kind of error when you try to play?
