I find this bug comes up when your device or internet speed isn't fast enough. Maybe ptcgl is not storing images of all the cards locally on your computer like ptcgo does. Even if you have more than one benched pokemon, the game also allows you to use Elesa's Sparkle to double attach fusion energy to one benched Pokemon by only selecting one of them and then taking 2 fusion energy from the deck.
