I would have said the Alola games but I replayed them so much that I just can't replay them anymore. Scarlet and Violet were pretty great, and X and Y were my first games.

@AceTrainerBasil So basically you want friends in your Pokemon games, not rivals?

Tie between Sinnoh and Kalos for me- primarily due to Ash's portrayal.

Alolan Vulpix/Ninetales. Unless you count Glaceon we really didn't have a snow fox Pokemon. Making the Vulpix line into an ice type turned something I didn't really mind before into something I really liked. Alolan Sandslash and Sandshrew are also quite cool.

Honestly I would bring just any Pokemon that could serve as a nice companion and that I can talk to. Vulpix, Mudkip, or Eevee would be my primary picks in that regard.

Gen 2 didn't have a Pika clone because they gave us Pichu.

As for fond memories, it would have to be getting my first game: Pokemon X. I had been into Pokemon for so long before finally getting into the mainline games, and let's just say the experience was delightful.

Not fond per say but a particularly funny one- When Sun and Moon were coming out I was so stuck on whether I wanted to choose Rowlet or Popplio. On one hand I loved Water types, but Rowlet seemed cool while Popplio's evolutions were too girly for me. My family members got kind of annoyed with me always going back and…

@MrDuck761 I agree on Bede but the reason I picked Blue over him is that Bede gets his just desserts early on (Rose disqualifies him shortly after he destroys the mural). You have to deal with Blue for the entire game before he's finally knocked off his pedestal.

@RiqMoran I think realism could play into the equation as well- hard to really trust a Trainer's skill when you know you could easily counter them with a single Pokemon
