They didn't create any kind of desync protection or fallback, so my guess is that it reconnected but couldn't restore the game state. It's not a timer bug for sure. They sent that emote because they were stuck too.

Generally there's only one patch a month. The next patch should come next week.

The game desynced and silently disconnected you. You already lost by that point. When this happens, you need to close your client immediately or else the game will keep matching you with people and causing you to lose points.

Are you talking about getting the energy from the discard with Blissful Blast? That's the effect of an Attack, not an Ability. Abilities are the text marked "Ability." Blissey's Ability can't trigger from Blissful Blast.
